Izmir's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hakkı Onur Ersal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Saffet Keykavus made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hulki Aker to strike the kick off in the second half. Hulki Aker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Seçkin Ökmen having to interfere. Saffet Keykavus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hakkı Onur Ersal, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Haldun Deren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Haldun Deren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Izmir's supporters rose to their feet, but Haldun Deren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Saffet Keykavus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Haldun Deren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saffet Keykavus having to interfere. After having played for 98 minutes, Haldun Deren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Izmir's supporters crossed their fingers, but Haldun Deren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
