Kara Kartal's Atak Özmen got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mehmet Akif İpekçi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bahtiyar Helvacıoğlu, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. If Sami Ayalp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bahtiyar Helvacıoğlu to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Kara Kartal's zone, Bahtiyar Helvacıoğlu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mehmet Akif İpekçi came out of the goal and Bahtiyar Helvacıoğlu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sivas S.K's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
