When Ataman Tecmil fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kara Kartal's protests and gave Ataman Tecmil a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Kara Kartal's Ataman Tecmil got a free kick in the 21st minute. Korcan Özkul took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Atak Özmen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kayseri spor's Akın Çırakoğlu got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mehmet Akif İpekçi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Akın Çırakoğlu in the 33rd minute of play. After 38 minutes, Sakut Ongunalp mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kara Kartal and the Kayseri spor players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sakut Ongunalp hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match.
