In the 8th minute Şenol Uçman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uluç Oyalp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 9 in the game by Orhan Seyfi Özbala from a close distance when the talented Bulut Tokyürek managed to make a qualified save. Borussia Dortmund's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orhan Seyfi Özbala in the 12th minute of play forced Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Bulut Tokyürek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Borussia Dortmund getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Aras Görkem Bilgetürk hit a great ball. If Ronny Mårtensson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Orhan Seyfi Özbala who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Bulut Tokyürek when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Şenol Uçman in the 34th minute of play forced DerinDarbe's goalkeeper Uluç Oyalp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Bulut Tokyürek managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when DerinDarbe's Orhan Seyfi Özbala fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Şenol Uçman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Uluç Oyalp showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kemalettin Uzbay in the 40th minute of the match. DerinDarbe's Orhan Seyfi Özbala got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 62ndth minute of the game Orhan Seyfi Özbala who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Borussia Dortmund's Bulut Tokyürek was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Orhan Seyfi Özbala managed to get in a good position for a shot. DerinDarbe's supporters rose to their feet, but Orhan Seyfi Özbala was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bulut Tokyürek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bulut Tokyürek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Orhan Seyfi Özbala's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute, Ronny Mårtensson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bulut Tokyürek was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 75th match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Şenol Uçman to maneuver through the defense. If Ronny Mårtensson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 79 played minutes Borussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Cabbar Tamkut. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Orhan Seyfi Özbala in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bulut Tokyürek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 82nd minute, one of Borussia Dortmund:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Borussia Dortmund. In the 84th minute there was a penalty for DerinDarbe. Alparslan Savaş stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bulut Tokyürek. 3-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kemalettin Uzbay got free with Uluç Oyalp in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Uluç Oyalp made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kemalettin Uzbay in the 91st minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. DerinDarbe had played much better football throughout.
