The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Batu Razi in the 3rd minute of play forced Fenerbahçe SK's goalkeeper Aytek Aşkın to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hulusi Gülerce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah having to interfere. If Ahmet Haşim Azim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hulusi Gülerce in the 12th minute of the match. In the 16th minute Ahmet Haşim Azim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of GÖKÇELİ SK booed when Fenerbahçe SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arın Nurtekin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Behiç Sebukalp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Aytek Aşkın tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, GÖKÇELİ SK's Ersin Kutyan got a free kick in the 25th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Fenerbahçe SK's Afşar İkinci broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 30 minutes of play, Fenerbahçe SK's Ahmet Haşim Azim made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah was left in no man's land by his defense there! Behiç Sebukalp might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aytek Aşkın. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Behiç Sebukalp ran back to his position shaking his head. Aytek Aşkın showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Batu Razi, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. If Ahmet Haşim Azim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Fenerbahçe SK's Hulusi Gülerce. But to his dismay, Hulusi Gülerce quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2.

Orçun Cengel kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. A hard shot by Afşar İkinci from long distance, 56 minutes into the match, got Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. With a little luck, GÖKÇELİ SK's Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah got control of the ball when Hulusi Gülerce tried to sneak it across the goal line. Aytek Aşkın made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Batu Razi in the 66th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Behiç Sebukalp in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aytek Aşkın saved Fenerbahçe SK from getting behind. Aytek Aşkın didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Behiç Sebukalp went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. A collision led to GÖKÇELİ SK getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Orçun Cengel hit a great ball. In the 77th minute, Fenerbahçe SK got a penalty, and Afşar İkinci placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Hulusi Gülerce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fenerbahçe SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Hulusi Gülerce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Batu Razi came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the GÖKÇELİ SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Batu Razi couldn't finish the play. 93 minutes into the match, Fenerbahçe SK's goal looked a bit too open when Batu Razi came free, but Aytek Aşkın reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 98 minutes into the match, Fenerbahçe SK's Ahmet Haşim Azim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ahmet Hamdi Kirmanşah narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fenerbahçe SK's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
