Melikgazi's Ceyhan Cangiray got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 9th minute Orkun Ünsi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hasan Ali Uzkan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 9 minutes, Karadeniz Adısönmez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galatasaray and the Melikgazi players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Galatasaray's Karadeniz Adısönmez got a free kick in the 9th minute. Karadeniz Adısönmez was shown his second yellow card after 17 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Hıdır Çetinalp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Hasan Ali Uzkan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Galatasaray's goalkeeper Hasan Ali Uzkan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Seyit İzgi fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galatasaray's protests and gave Seyit İzgi a yellow card for diving instead. In the 28thth minute of the game Hıdır Çetinalp who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Galatasaray's Hasan Ali Uzkan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Murathan Tapgaç had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kutlay Önen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Yağız Akkın made a huge save. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Melikgazi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genco Özdek didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hıdır Çetinalp stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Melikgazi's Hıdır Çetinalp sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hasan Ali Uzkan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The corner led Melikgazi's Berker Rıza Kuntman to fire away a dangerous shot which Hasan Ali Uzkan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Melikgazi booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position.
