After 6 played minutes AĞRI SSK got a freekick which was hit by Akif Heybetli. Başaran Ceviz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fikri Özyay read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Ali Cengiz Ulvi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Fikri Özyay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Polat Keyhüsrev got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Başaran Ceviz struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Fikri Özyay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Athletic Mecidiye SK. When Fatih Güdü came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Athletic Mecidiye SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fatih Güdü couldn't finish the play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 24 minutes into the game, when Gürcan Kutuner put in a rough tackle. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Athletic Mecidiye SK! In the 26th minute there was a penalty for AĞRI SSK. Günay Başeskioğlu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Sedat Şölen. 1-0. Polat Keyhüsrev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Athletic Mecidiye SK booed when AĞRI SSK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tuğrul Budaklı didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind AĞRI SSK's goalkeeper Fikri Özyay, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arif Egemen Bartu kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. When Fatih Güdü came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Athletic Mecidiye SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fatih Güdü couldn't finish the play. In the 40th minute, Fatih Güdü got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Erol Gerdaneri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 42 minutes, Fatih Güdü managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Athletic Mecidiye SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fatih Güdü was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erol Gerdaneri might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fikri Özyay. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Erol Gerdaneri ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Başaran Ceviz in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fikri Özyay saved AĞRI SSK from getting behind.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Başaran Ceviz to strike the kick off in the second half. Suat Kartekin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sedat Şölen having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in AĞRI SSK's zone, Erol Gerdaneri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fikri Özyay came out of the goal and Erol Gerdaneri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 67th minute, Başaran Ceviz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fikri Özyay was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Athletic Mecidiye SK's zone, Tuğrul Budaklı stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sedat Şölen came out of the goal and Tuğrul Budaklı tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sedat Şölen came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by AĞRI SSK's Suat Kartekin. But to his dismay, Suat Kartekin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. When Polat Keyhüsrev came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Athletic Mecidiye SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Polat Keyhüsrev couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, AĞRI SSK's Fikri Özyay got control of the ball when Polat Keyhüsrev tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Başaran Ceviz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Polat Keyhüsrev's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fikri Özyay firmly grabbed it by the left post. After having played for 93 minutes, Polat Keyhüsrev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Athletic Mecidiye SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Polat Keyhüsrev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fikri Özyay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Başaran Ceviz in the 95th minute. Athletic Mecidiye SK were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
