With a little luck, Fenerbahçe SK's Baturhan Akhan got control of the ball when Batı Rikap tried to sneak it across the goal line. AnkaraGücü's Arif Çelebi Nasip played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İlmi Süreyya in the 36th minute of play. After 38 played minutes AnkaraGücü got a freekick which was hit by Tanju Erincer. Arif Çelebi Nasip showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yaşar Nuri Yalın in the 41st minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Batı Rikap made the kick off in the second half. Baturhan Akhan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Batı Rikap, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Arif Çelebi Nasip made an important save on a dangerous shot by İlmi Süreyya in the 59th minute. Baturhan Akhan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Batı Rikap in the 61st minute of play. After 63 played minutes, AnkaraGücü's Arkın Tapık shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Baturhan Akhan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in AnkaraGücü reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Batı Rikap managed to get in a good position for a shot. AnkaraGücü's supporters rose to their feet, but Batı Rikap was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baturhan Akhan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
