The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Vacid Bağcı showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afşin Suat, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. ÇATALMASPOR's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afşin Suat was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pekin Eröz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 12th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vacid Bağcı. Sariyahsi FK's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Halil Can İşcan struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Vacid Bağcı didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ÇATALMASPOR. In the 23rd minute Afşin Suat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vacid Bağcı saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Sariyahsi FK's goal looked a bit too open when Afşin Suat came free, but Vacid Bağcı reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Afşin Suat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cem Yalçıner came free with the goalkeeper in the 37th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ejder Uluman could save by the left post. After 45 minutes, Güralp Pekant mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sariyahsi FK and the ÇATALMASPOR players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ejder Uluman showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 84th match minute, Sariyahsi FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cem Yalçıner to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Afşin Suat took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Vacid Bağcı to make any attempt to save it.
