Kaptan Ustam could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Demiralp Tanfer made a huge save. A nice corner shot did that Bilgin Baş got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Demiralp Tanfer quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 8 minutes into the game, Hakkı Deniz Erdemalp was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dörtyol's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Galatasaray the free kick. Gencer Süngü made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ataman Oğuztüzün in the 10th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Dörtyol's Okan Üstüner got a free kick in the 14th minute. After 15 played minutes, Galatasaray's Mevlüt Özenli shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Demiralp Tanfer came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Galatasaray reached it. Dörtyol's Hakkı Deniz Erdemalp got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Dörtyol defense, Birol İmran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Demiralp Tanfer. The Dörtyol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Demiralp Tanfer should have stopped the shot. Dörtyol's Demiralp Tanfer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Dörtyol from getting a goal against them. 34 minutes into the match, Nurtekin Yağan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Demiralp Tanfer, 2-0. A collision led to Galatasaray getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Mevlüt Özenli hit a great ball. Ataman Oğuztüzün sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Birol İmran might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Demiralp Tanfer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Birol İmran ran back to his position shaking his head. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After having played for 52 minutes, Birol İmran managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galatasaray's supporters crossed their fingers, but Birol İmran was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nurtekin Yağan in the 53rd minute of play forced Dörtyol's goalkeeper Demiralp Tanfer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hakkı Deniz Erdemalp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hakkı Deniz Erdemalp's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gencer Süngü read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Demiralp Tanfer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bilgin Baş went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Demiralp Tanfer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Birol İmran, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 70th minute, Birol İmran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Galatasaray's Necmi Demirtaş pulled a muscle in his leg after 71 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 72nd match minute, Dörtyol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Batıhan Olcaytug to maneuver through the defense. After 80 minutes, Ataman Oğuztüzün made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Galatasaray's Gencer Süngü tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Demiralp Tanfer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nurtekin Yağan in the 95th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Nurtekin Yağan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Demiralp Tanfer was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. Dörtyol's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
