Yalova's Hamit Yıldırım played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tayfun Ahid in the 26th minute of play. Yalova's Tarık Ersalmış suffered a concussion after 30 minutes and had to leave the field. After 30 minutes, Sebati Kutlay mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Beşiktaş and the Yalova players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Yalova booed when Beşiktaş was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebati Kutlay didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Tayfun Ahid came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Beşiktaş fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tayfun Ahid couldn't finish the play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Ogün Bağcı made the kick off in the second half. Özbek Tokuztuğ hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute Ogün Bağcı shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hamit Yıldırım saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tayfun Ahid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Hamit Yıldırım tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tayfun Ahid was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 67th minute. Beşiktaş's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After a defensive mix-up in Yalova's zone, Tayfun Ahid stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hamit Yıldırım came out of the goal and Tayfun Ahid tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Tayfun Ahid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Yalova's goalkeeper Hamit Yıldırım, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hamit Yıldırım didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 84th minute, which inside left pole to 3-1. Hamit Yıldırım showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ogün Bağcı, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute.
