The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Diyadin's Ramiz Yazır got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lütfü Tokuşhan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Turan Coşan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. A collision led to Diyadin getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Cebrail Gürtuna hit a great ball. Besim Kutsalan struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Timur Hakan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Karpuzlu. Turan Coşan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramiz Yazır, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Diyadin were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Karpuzlu's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cebrail Gürtuna took the corner. Lütfü Tokuşhan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Turan Coşan made a huge save. 31 minutes into the match, Karpuzlu's Besim Kutsalan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Timur Hakan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Karpuzlu booed when Diyadin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cihat Bozer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramiz Yazır received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Turan Coşan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Beşir Bozdağ was the one to do the kick off. When Beşir Bozdağ, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 53 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Timur Hakan was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lütfü Tokuşhan in the 92nd minute of play forced Karpuzlu's goalkeeper Turan Coşan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
