Derviş Tezay was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from İlyas Tolga Canıtez. Güven Mithat who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Derviş Tezay when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Lefter Şahtürk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ertaç Nabi in the 37th minute of play. Güven Mithat recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Güven Mithat could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Derviş Tezay made a huge save. Özkan Işılay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Derviş Tezay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ertaç Nabi made a kick off. In the 56th match minute, Ferizli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ali Atıf Özker to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute, Sertaç Ula ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Derviş Tezay was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ferizli reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Özkan Işılay in the 95th minute of play forced Fikirtepe's goalkeeper Derviş Tezay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
