After 7 minutes of play, Karaca's Nihat Sina made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Saffet Cenger was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Atilla Kağan Tara managed to get in a good position for a shot. MERT-SU's supporters rose to their feet, but Atilla Kağan Tara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abdurrezzak Kınay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Saffet Cenger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Akın Rafiz in the 18th minute of the match. Saffet Cenger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Akın Rafiz in the 19th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, MERT-SU's goal looked a bit too open when Nihat Sina came free, but Saffet Cenger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Berker Rıza Gencay fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Karaca's protests and gave Berker Rıza Gencay a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th minute Akın Rafiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saffet Cenger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Akın Rafiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th match minute, MERT-SU was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sarp Turbay to maneuver through the defense. Akın Rafiz scored 1-2 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Saffet Cenger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Gökçen Evcimen came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the MERT-SU fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gökçen Evcimen couldn't finish the play. Abdurrezzak Kınay made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Atilla Kağan Tara sent off a good shot on target. After the first half Karaca were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience was convinced that Akın Rafiz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Saffet Cenger was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. After 58 minutes, Göksel Tarık mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MERT-SU and the Karaca players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th match minute, MERT-SU was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Göksel Tarık to maneuver through the defense.
