An unexpectedly hard shot by Ünal Dahi in the 4th minute of play forced Mersin's goalkeeper Nebi Sayman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Saip Ekincioğlu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute, Bayındır Mehmet Hisarcık made a precise shot to the right of Songurhan Cansal. Ekinözü's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. 15 minutes into the game, Semavi Bender threw the ball into play from the sideline. Mersin's Vahit Numan quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Bayındır Mehmet Hisarcık had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Ünal Dahi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nebi Sayman was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. If Alpay Kadrican had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nebi Sayman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ünal Dahi in the 39th minute of the match. After having played for 42 minutes, Saip Ekincioğlu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mersin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Saip Ekincioğlu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ekinözü's zone, Saip Ekincioğlu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Songurhan Cansal came out of the goal and Saip Ekincioğlu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ünal Dahi to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Ekinözü were awarded a corner. Fazıl Hüsnü Lütufkâr went to the cornerflag to take it. The attack was good, but when Ünal Dahi in the 53rd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Saip Ekincioğlu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Songurhan Cansal having to interfere. 64 minutes into the match, Dursun Direnç notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Mersin's Nebi Sayman. Nebi Sayman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 67 minutes into the match, Mersin's goal looked a bit too open when Ünal Dahi came free, but Nebi Sayman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ünal Dahi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Nebi Sayman made a huge save. Songurhan Cansal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fazıl Uraltan in the 75th minute of play. Tansu Bedi hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Saip Ekincioğlu might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Songurhan Cansal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Saip Ekincioğlu ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Ekinözü booed when Mersin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saip Ekincioğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 82 played minutes, Ekinözü's Tarkan Malkoç shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nebi Sayman came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ekinözü reached it. Tayyip Baysungur blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Songurhan Cansal having to make a save. In the 88th minute, Ünal Dahi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nebi Sayman was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. The supporters of Mersin booed when Ekinözü was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alpay Kadrican didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle went the supporters of Ekinözü were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Mersin side.
