After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Vahap Şahoğlu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Göztepe SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Vahap Şahoğlu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Çelikan Talaykan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 14 minutes into the match, Vahap Şahoğlu notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN's Çelikan Talaykan. Çelikan Talaykan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 16th minute, Varol Savgat left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The audience was convinced that Baran Tibet's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kağan Arabacı was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Necip Fazıl Tufan charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Necip Fazıl Tufan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Kağan Arabacı made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Varol Savgat in the 30th minute of play. In the 36th match minute, Göztepe SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Muzaffer Kutbay to maneuver through the defense. 38 minutes into the game, Baran Tibet cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Kağan Arabacı was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Necip Fazıl Tufan was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 43 minutes had been played. The supporters of FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN booed when Göztepe SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Necip Fazıl Tufan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 46th minute, Varol Savgat got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kağan Arabacı showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baran Tibet, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After the first half FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Armağan Buğdaycı in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Çelikan Talaykan saved FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN from getting behind. When Varol Savgat fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN's protests and gave Varol Savgat a yellow card for diving instead. After 69 played minutes FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN got a freekick which was hit by Varol Savgat. The long shot by Mehmet Emin Karataş in the 74th minute really tested Kağan Arabacı's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Armağan Buğdaycı struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Çelikan Talaykan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Göztepe SK. Muzaffer Kutbay hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Vahap Şahoğlu's late challenge caught a FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vahap Şahoğlu helped the player get up and apologised. After having played for 86 minutes, Baran Tibet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FATİH SULTAN MEHMET HAN's supporters crossed their fingers, but Baran Tibet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 88th minute, Vahap Şahoğlu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 90 minutes into the game, Göztepe SK's Şenol İnegöllü nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Çelikan Talaykan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Despite being the better team, Göztepe SK failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
