Okaner Taran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vahap Yunus in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gürcan Başarman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gürcan Başarman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Battal Gazi Olgunay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gürcan Başarman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Melih Cevdet Baltacı in the 31st minute of the match. Semih Unan kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. If Melih Cevdet Baltacı had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute Melih Cevdet Baltacı shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gürcan Başarman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 played minutes Kocaelispor got a freekick which was hit by Sait Yalçıner. If Battal Gazi Olgunay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. Sakaryaspor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gencay Seyyid was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vahap Yunus succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-1 in the 64th playminute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Efekan Ulutaş in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Okaner Taran saved Kocaelispor from getting behind. Sarp Biçimli took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Okaner Taran. Okaner Taran dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Kocaelispor's Okaner Taran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gencay Seyyid in the 83rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Harun Korgan in the 86th minute of play forced Kocaelispor's goalkeeper Okaner Taran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Okaner Taran showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gencay Seyyid in the 91st minute of the match.
