The audience thought a goal was coming when Hilmi Ayyıldız got free with Filipe Duarte in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Gani Baldemir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bilge Selman struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Asım Arif Şimşektürk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Handağı. Necmettin Rahmi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Asım Arif Şimşektürk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Asım Arif Şimşektürk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Necmettin Rahmi, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Handağı's goalkeeper Filipe Duarte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gani Baldemir. A collision led to Handağı getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Hacı Ali Taib hit a great ball. In the 26th minute, Bilge Selman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Van booed when Handağı was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hacı Ali Taib didn't get a good kick on the ball. Filipe Duarte made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Hilmi Ayyıldız sent off a good shot on target. Bilge Selman struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. When Bilge Selman came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Handağı fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bilge Selman couldn't finish the play. Handağı's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Van the free kick. Bilge Selman hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. The Van players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Handağı were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hilmi Ayyıldız to make the kick off. Necmettin Rahmi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 64th play minute Bilge Selman came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Asım Arif Şimşektürk. 0-3. Filipe Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gani Baldemir in the 70th minute of play. Corrado Toppi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Asım Arif Şimşektürk having to interfere. Kutay Fırat kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. A hard shot by Edilberto Abajas from long distance, 79 minutes into the match, got Asım Arif Şimşektürk's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Handağı's Filipe Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gani Baldemir in the 82nd minute of play. 83 minutes into the game, one of Handağı:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 85th minute there was a penalty for Van. Kutay Fırat stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Filipe Duarte. 1-3. If Necmettin Rahmi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Handağı could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Van throughout the match.
