In the 4th minute Doğa Ferhat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acun Omay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 5th minute by İlhan Mansız got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ömür Tansoy took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Şerafettin İdrisoğlu. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 9th minute Mahsun İstanbul shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acun Omay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The attack was good, but when Mahsun İstanbul in the 10th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 13th match minute, Ömer Batu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Halit Fahri Asıf to maneuver through the defense. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from İlhan Mansız in the 14th minute of play. After 15 played minutes Wesley de Lima rounded Ömer Batu's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. After a rather tough play, Ömer Batu's Hayri Sözen got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 19th minute, Wesley de Lima left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Galatasaray fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. When Galatasaray's İlhan Mansız in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 37th minute, Galatasaray's Wesley de Lima ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Şerafettin İdrisoğlu. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 6-0. Ömer Batu's Şerafettin İdrisoğlu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İlhan Mansız in the 39th minute of play. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from İlhan Mansız, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Wesley de Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatasaray's supporters rose to their feet, but Wesley de Lima was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ömür Tansoy hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute of the match Arman Birsel sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Acun Omay skillfully saved the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mahsun İstanbul was the one to do the kick off. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from İlhan Mansız went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from İlhan Mansız, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56th minute Galatasaray were awarded a corner. Berker Rıza Şikel went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Kadri Adılhan in the 57th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Acun Omay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Şerafettin İdrisoğlu came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Galatasaray's İlhan Mansız. But to his dismay, İlhan Mansız quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. After some careless play in the Ömer Batu defense, Wesley de Lima kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Şerafettin İdrisoğlu. The Ömer Batu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Şerafettin İdrisoğlu should have stopped the shot. Galatasaray made a substitution. Yaman Atlıoğlu replaced Yiğit Akartuna. In the 71st minute İlhan Mansız shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şerafettin İdrisoğlu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 72 minutes into the game, Galatasaray's Aybek Seçkiner nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. İlhan Mansız ran back to his position shaking his head. Ömer Batu's Şerafettin İdrisoğlu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wesley de Lima in the 82nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by İlhan Mansız in the 83rd minute of play forced Ömer Batu's goalkeeper Şerafettin İdrisoğlu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute of the match Galatasaray got a corner. Ömer Batu's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Berker Rıza Şikel ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 88th minute, Wesley de Lima made a precise shot to the right of Şerafettin İdrisoğlu. Ömer Batu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 12-0. 92 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goalkeeper Acun Omay had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doğa Ferhat. If Wesley de Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute İlhan Mansız shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şerafettin İdrisoğlu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Galatasaray's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
