After a defensive mix-up in GALATASARAY SK's zone, Aras Orak stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hüseyin Turan Cesman came out of the goal and Aras Orak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 7thth minute of the game Aras Orak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GALATASARAY SK's Hüseyin Turan Cesman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. GALATASARAY SK's Hüseyin Turan Cesman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aras Orak in the 10th minute of play. Baltasar Calado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gian-Carlo Irizar, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After 12 played minutes GALATASARAY SK got a freekick which was hit by Timo Rea. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tanju Çolak in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hüseyin Turan Cesman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 32nd minute Gian-Carlo Irizar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baltasar Calado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tanju Çolak blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hüseyin Turan Cesman having to make a save. Aras Orak recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 47th match minute, GALATASARAY SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vali Ţirpescu to maneuver through the defense.

In the 53rd minute, Aras Orak made a precise shot to the right of Hüseyin Turan Cesman. GALATASARAY SK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gian-Carlo Irizar in the 57th minute of play forced umutspor's goalkeeper Baltasar Calado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, GALATASARAY SK's Hüseyin Turan Cesman got control of the ball when Cihan Veysel tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Akay Yürükoğlu fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored umutspor's protests and gave Akay Yürükoğlu a yellow card for diving instead. GALATASARAY SK's Abdurrahim Bicanoğlu was substituted for Lorenzo Sergi. In the 79th minute, Tanju Çolak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Abdurrahim Bicanoğlu came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the GALATASARAY SK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abdurrahim Bicanoğlu couldn't finish the play. But to his dismay, Abdurrahim Bicanoğlu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-4. In the 94th minute, Müjdat Cihanmert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Aras Orak managed to get in a good position for a shot. umutspor's supporters rose to their feet, but Aras Orak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hüseyin Turan Cesman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Although GALATASARAY SK had been in control for most of the match, umutspor still came away with the win.
