Gökalp Garip took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yakup Kadri Şıran, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Baltasar Calado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cătălin Hâncu went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Tan Satıkbuğra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mevlüt Civanbaht charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mevlüt Civanbaht the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Özmen Şahit could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Baltasar Calado made a huge save. Baltasar Calado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iacob Voinea in the 31st minute. After a rather tough play, Galatasaray SK's Ahmet Ali Karabey got a free kick in the 34th minute. Gökalp Garip made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yıldıray Onursu in the 41st minute of play. The corner led umutspor's Akay Yürükoğlu to fire away a dangerous shot which Gökalp Garip despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

With a little luck, Galatasaray SK's Gökalp Garip got control of the ball when Tan Satıkbuğra tried to sneak it across the goal line.
