The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Edward Panikowski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Verner Skräddare in the 3rd minute of the match. Milivoj Stjepanović received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Jess Bonkegaard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jess Bonkegaard stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tõnis Kriska's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Enginsu Orgunalp sped through Karşıyaka Spor Kulüpü's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edward Panikowski. 11 minutes into the game, Karşıyaka Spor Kulüpü's Tõnis Kriska nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jess Bonkegaard made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Salomon Jestin fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Balkan Defence's protests and gave Salomon Jestin a yellow card for diving instead. Kral Çakır kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Verner Skräddare left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Balkan Defence fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Tuğrul Ergümen did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-2 to the left of a surprised Jess Bonkegaard 24 minutes into the match. If Tuğrul Ergümen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ercan Yaman kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Ercan Yaman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute, Milivoj Stjepanović fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jess Bonkegaard, passed just outside the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tõnis Kriska in the 46th minute of play forced Balkan Defence's goalkeeper Jess Bonkegaard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tuğrul Ergümen to strike the kick off in the second half. If Tuğrul Ergümen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Balkan Defence booed when Karşıyaka Spor Kulüpü was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogelio Osoitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 63 played minutes Balkan Defence got a freekick which was hit by Lokman Ronaldinho. In the 63rd minute of the match Ercan Yaman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jess Bonkegaard showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The Karşıyaka Spor Kulüpü fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Karşıyaka Spor Kulüpü fans cheered their team off the field, for while Balkan Defence had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
