Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Sergey Borisanov made the kick off which started today's match. Yakov Kirsanov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oleg Fomichev in the 7th minute of play. Anatoliy Yakushev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Gerasim Smirnov made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in CSKA MOSKVA's zone, Vsevolod Belyanin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerasim Smirnov came out of the goal and Vsevolod Belyanin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gerasim Smirnov made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Anatoliy Yakushev sent off a good shot on target. In the 14th match minute, CSKA MOSKVA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lev Morozov to maneuver through the defense. After 24 played minutes Vladikavkaz got a freekick which was hit by Zinoviy Bobrov. Gerasim Smirnov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vsevolod Belyanin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anatoliy Ivaschenko charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anatoliy Ivaschenko the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 31 minutes into the game, one of Vladikavkaz:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave CSKA MOSKVA a penalty, 34 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Oleg Fomichev, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Vladikavkaz's Yakov Kirsanov. 0-1. CSKA MOSKVA's Sergey Borisanov got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 38th minute Vsevolod Belyanin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerasim Smirnov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 39 played minutes CSKA MOSKVA got a freekick which was hit by Aleksey Knyazev. Zinoviy Bobrov hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 47 minutes had been played when some careless play by CSKA MOSKVA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Oleg Pustovalov was slow to take the kick. During this time Vladikavkaz's players had a chance to rest. After the first half CSKA MOSKVA were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vsevolod Belyanin was the one to do the kick off. Sergey Borisanov might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yakov Kirsanov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sergey Borisanov ran back to his position shaking his head. Sergey Borisanov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Vsevolod Belyanin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anatoliy Yakushev in the 61st minute of play forced CSKA MOSKVA's goalkeeper Gerasim Smirnov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vsevolod Belyanin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Gerasim Smirnov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vsevolod Belyanin, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 78 minutes into the match, CSKA MOSKVA's goal looked a bit too open when Anatoliy Yakushev came free, but Gerasim Smirnov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute, Lev Morozov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 85 minutes, Anatoliy Yakushev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vladikavkaz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anatoliy Yakushev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anatoliy Yakushev might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gerasim Smirnov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anatoliy Yakushev ran back to his position shaking his head. Gerasim Smirnov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vsevolod Belyanin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Eduard Boyarinov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vladikavkaz's supporters rose to their feet, but Eduard Boyarinov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerasim Smirnov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
