Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Petrozavodsk's Valeriy Agranovskiy started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Petrozavodsk's zone, Vladimir Gurevich stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruslan Cherkasskiy came out of the goal and Vladimir Gurevich tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Yulian Medvedev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valeriy Agranovskiy was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 12th minute. Petrozavodsk's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Vladimir Gurevich recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ruslan Cherkasskiy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yulian Medvedev, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Petrozavodsk's Ruslan Cherkasskiy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Gurevich in the 17th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Valeriy Agranovskiy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vadim Polunin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Irakliy Kostrov came out and tried to block the shot, but Vadim Polunin slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 27th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valentin Leonov during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 38th minute, Valentin Leonov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute, one of Petrozavodsk:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Petrozavodsk. Ruslan Cherkasskiy went to the wrong direction when Mikhail Karasev was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After a rather tough play, Petrozavodsk's Valentin Leonov got a free kick in the 47th minute.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vladimir Gurevich made a kick off. With his leg Ruslan Cherkasskiy managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when kupchino-78rus's Yulian Medvedev fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, kupchino-78rus's Vladimir Gromov got a free kick in the 56th minute. With splendid footwork Vladimir Gurevich arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-1 by the left pole in the game's 63rd minute. The supporters of Petrozavodsk booed when kupchino-78rus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vladimir Gromov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valeriy Agranovskiy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Irakliy Kostrov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 89 played minutes kupchino-78rus got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Gromov. After some careless play in the kupchino-78rus defense, Vadim Polunin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Irakliy Kostrov. The kupchino-78rus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Irakliy Kostrov should have stopped the shot. In the 95th minute, Valentin Leonov made a precise shot to the right of Irakliy Kostrov. kupchino-78rus's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1.
