Inter Stavropol's Irakliy Basalaev got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Irakliy Basalaev succeeded in the game's 13th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. Valentin Arbenin was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Yuriy Kartashev showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 19 minute of play. Irakliy Basalaev came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Valentin Arbenin could save by the left post. Vadim Lavrentev's late challenge caught a Spartak Chelyabinsk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dmitriy Alekseenko hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Irakliy Basalaev got free with Valentin Arbenin in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Yuriy Kartashev's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valentin Arbenin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. If Irakliy Basalaev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Irakliy Basalaev stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Inter Stavropol were awarded a corner. Valentin Arbenin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Inter Stavropol. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Yuriy Kartashev put it in 6-0 from a short distance just to the right of Valentin Arbenin. Valentin Arbenin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Irakliy Basalaev went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-0 was the resulting score. In the 87th minute, Irakliy Basalaev ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valentin Arbenin was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-0. After some careless play in the Spartak Chelyabinsk defense, Yuriy Kartashev kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Valentin Arbenin. The Spartak Chelyabinsk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valentin Arbenin should have stopped the shot. Inter Stavropol walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
