Konstantin Arinbasarov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Arkadiy Boyarov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the game, Smolensk's Boris Danilov nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arkadiy Boyarov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vitaliy Lavrenkov in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arkadiy Boyarov saved Angarsk from getting behind. In the 27th minute, Konstantin Arinbasarov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Smolensk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. If Konstantin Arinbasarov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Angarsk's Arkadiy Boyarov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Konstantin Arinbasarov in the 40th minute of play. When Konstantin Arinbasarov came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Smolensk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Konstantin Arinbasarov couldn't finish the play. If Konstantin Arinbasarov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Konstantin Nelepin to make the kick off. Konstantin Arinbasarov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arkadiy Boyarov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute Konstantin Arinbasarov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arkadiy Boyarov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arkadiy Boyarov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Konstantin Arinbasarov in the 73rd minute of play. Arkadiy Boyarov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Konstantin Arinbasarov, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Smolensk's Vitaliy Lavrenkov got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arkadiy Boyarov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle sounded Smolensk left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Angarsk.
