The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC booed when Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl Dolbezhkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pavel Alov came free, but Vikentiy Nikiforov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aleksey Kantonistov in the 17th minute of play forced Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's goalkeeper Gennadiy Semin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vladimir Burov in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vikentiy Nikiforov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC's Innokentiy Givartovskiy slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gennadiy Semin. That made the score 1-0 after 20 minutes of play. Vikentiy Nikiforov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavel Alov in the 28th minute of the match. Andrey Kasyanenko hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC defense, Pavel Alov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vikentiy Nikiforov. The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vikentiy Nikiforov should have stopped the shot. In the 37thth minute of the game Vladimir Burov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC's Vikentiy Nikiforov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 40th minute, Artur Dityatin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gennadiy Semin. The goal made the score 2-1. Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's Vladimir Burov got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pavel Alov to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC got a corner. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Petr Vorontsov ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mikhail Bulykin hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Vikentiy Nikiforov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aleksey Evdokimov in the 54th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC's zone, Sergey Ivanov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vikentiy Nikiforov came out of the goal and Sergey Ivanov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vikentiy Nikiforov made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Vladimir Burov sent off a good shot on target. After 62 played minutes Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC got a freekick which was hit by Innokentiy Givartovskiy. When Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC's Artur Dityatin in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's goalie prevented a goal. Vladimir Burovs short, quick shot in the 66thth minute got Vikentiy Nikiforov to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Innokentiy Givartovskiy during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 66th match minute, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Innokentiy Givartovskiy to maneuver through the defense. Pavel Alov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vikentiy Nikiforov having to interfere. Aleksey Evdokimov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Sergey Ivanov came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergey Ivanov couldn't finish the play. If Vladimir Burov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andrey Kasyanenko kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 86th minute, Vladimir Burov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-5. When Vladimir Burov in the 91st play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Vikentiy Nikiforov kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 2-6 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Gennadiy Semin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Innokentiy Givartovskiy in the 94th minute of play. Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
