Gerd Müller's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 5thth minute, Oleg Zhdanov skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 7 minutes into the match, Gerd Müller dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Oleg Zhdanov, 1-0. After 10 played minutes Kislovodsk got a freekick which was hit by Stepan Ilyin. After 11 played minutes, Petrozavodsk FC's Kazemir Kurmanevich shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Darren Couzens came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Petrozavodsk FC reached it. Kislovodsk's Darren Couzens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timofey Khokhlov in the 13th minute of play. After 13 played minutes Petrozavodsk FC got a freekick which was hit by Igor Adriyanov. A collision led to Kislovodsk getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Stepan Ilyin hit a great ball. Oleg Zhdanov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gerd Müller in the 23rd minute. Gerd Müller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 29th minute, Sergey Febov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mark Ivkov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oleg Zhdanov having to make a save. When Aleksandr Zhuravlev came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Kislovodsk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aleksandr Zhuravlev couldn't finish the play. In the 37th minute Adrian Belyanskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darren Couzens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gerd Müller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Oleg Zhdanov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oleg Zhdanov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Ivkov in the 40th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gerd Müller's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oleg Zhdanov was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Mark Ivkov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Oleg Zhdanov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gerd Müller in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Oleg Zhdanov saved Petrozavodsk FC from getting behind. Sergey Febov hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerd Müller in the 58th minute of play forced Petrozavodsk FC's goalkeeper Oleg Zhdanov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerd Müller took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oleg Zhdanov. Oleg Zhdanov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. In the 64th minute, Konstantin Kochubeev left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Petrozavodsk FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. If Konstantin Kochubeev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mark Ivkov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oleg Zhdanov having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Ndu Ichen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oleg Zhdanov was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. If Valentin Ladynin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the match, Petrozavodsk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nildo Hoffmann came free, but Oleg Zhdanov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Kislovodsk booed when Petrozavodsk FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Konstantin Kochubeev didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 96 minutes, Ndu Ichen made it 8-1 with a short kick to the right side. Petrozavodsk FC's Oleg Zhdanov tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Kislovodsk walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
