Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oleg Mishin to make the kick off. Daniil Lapshin's late challenge caught a Karelia FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniil Lapshin helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Karelia FC booed when FC Shakhtar Donetsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position.
