The audience thought a goal was coming when Efim Kalachev got free with Timofey Novikov in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aleksandr Zhitkov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aleksandr Malinovkin having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Ivanovo's goal looked a bit too open when Ilya Volkov came free, but Timofey Novikov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Timofey Novikov made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Marat Balkashin sent off a good shot on target. In the 35th minute, Sergey Naschekin made a precise shot to the right of Aleksandr Malinovkin. Nevinnomyssk's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. With a little luck, Ivanovo's Timofey Novikov got control of the ball when Efim Kalachev tried to sneak it across the goal line. With his leg Timofey Novikov managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when Nevinnomyssk's Efim Kalachev fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 41st minute, Andrey Dyachkov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sergey Naschekin's late challenge caught a Nevinnomyssk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ilya Volkov was the one to do the kick off. Nevinnomyssk's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Aleksandr Zhitkov 76 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-4. Timofey Novikov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ilya Volkov in the 84th minute of play. The supporters of Ivanovo booed when Nevinnomyssk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aleksey Amurskiy didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Aleksandr Zhitkov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aleksandr Malinovkin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aleksandr Zhitkov's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Ivanovo played a much better game than Nevinnomyssk and deserved their victory. The Nevinnomyssk players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
