In the 2nd match minute, FC Shakhtar Donetsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonid Aleinikov to maneuver through the defense. Lev Alferov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Grivtsov having to interfere. When Sergey Shevchenko fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Shakhtar Donetsk's protests and gave Sergey Shevchenko a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th match minute, FC Shakhtar Donetsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergey Shevchenko to maneuver through the defense. After 6 played minutes Nizhnekamsk got a freekick which was hit by Boris Kochuev. Semen Burlyay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Efim Elgarov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonid Aleinikov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Semen Burlyay made a huge save. When Grigoriy Kononov fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nizhnekamsk's protests and gave Grigoriy Kononov a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th match minute, Nizhnekamsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grigoriy Kononov to maneuver through the defense. Semen Burlyay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Efim Elgarov in the 17th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Vadim Grigoriev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute Sergey Shevchenko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Semen Burlyay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Semen Burlyay made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Efim Elgarov sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergey Shevchenko in the 31st minute of play forced Nizhnekamsk's goalkeeper Semen Burlyay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the game, Sergey Shevchenko recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Semen Burlyay. Sergey Shevchenko showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Roman Naumkin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Semen Burlyay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Efim Elgarov, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 39th match minute, Nizhnekamsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valeriy Aripov to maneuver through the defense. If Leonid Aleinikov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Nizhnekamsk's goalkeeper Semen Burlyay had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonid Aleinikov. With a little luck, Nizhnekamsk's Semen Burlyay got control of the ball when Leonid Aleinikov tried to sneak it across the goal line.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stanislav Markov stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Stanislav Markov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 56 minutes into the game, one of FC Shakhtar Donetsk:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After 59 minutes FC Shakhtar Donetsk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stanislav Markov who took care of the corner kick. Luka Bisultanov made a great header on Nizhnekamsk's corner, it was just that FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Igor Grivtsov managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 62nd minute, Nizhnekamsk's Roman Naumkin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Igor Grivtsov. Igor Grivtsov yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Semen Burlyay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergey Shevchenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Igor Grivtsov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stanislav Markov's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. 75 minutes into the match, Nizhnekamsk's goal looked a bit too open when Sergey Shevchenko came free, but Semen Burlyay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roman Naumkin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nizhnekamsk's Semen Burlyay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Efim Elgarov in the 80th minute of play. In the 81st minute, Leonid Aleinikov ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Semen Burlyay was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. 84 minutes into the match, Sergey Shevchenko had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Semen Burlyay. Nizhnekamsk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sergey Shevchenko was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Semen Burlyay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonid Aleinikov in the 87th minute of play. A hard shot 91 in the game by Stanislav Markov from a close distance when the talented Igor Grivtsov managed to make a qualified save. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's players were relieved. Igor Grivtsov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roman Naumkin in the 93rd minute of the match. After 94 played minutes FC Shakhtar Donetsk got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Moiseev. Stanislav Markov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Nizhnekamsk players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
