The supporters of WWW LENINGRAD booed when Ivanovo HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aleksey Pogudin didn't get a good kick on the ball. WWW LENINGRAD's Ruslan Nekrasov got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jannes Van Gijsel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Eduard Hayaletdinov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emmanuil Kabanov to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Virgilio Quinto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eduard Hayaletdinov was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Eduard Hayaletdinov didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 57th minute, which inside left pole to 0-4. In the 65th minute, Vadim Brondukov reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eduard Hayaletdinov. The goal made the score 0-5. In the 68th minute Andrey Bubnov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduard Hayaletdinov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Virgilio Quinto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Eduard Hayaletdinov made a huge save. After 72nd play minutes Virgilio Quinto shot 0-6, a short shot which went by Eduard Hayaletdinov and just under the crossbar into goal. Virgilio Quinto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Eduard Hayaletdinov when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ivanovo HC's Eduard Hayaletdinov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrey Bubnov in the 76th minute of play. Eduard Hayaletdinov was a little too slow when Andrey Bubnov got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 79th minute. The score was now 0-7. Virgilio Quinto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Eduard Hayaletdinov made a huge save. WWW LENINGRAD made a substitution. Stanislav Karpov replaced Rudolf Budraitis. The corner led WWW LENINGRAD's Ren Feng to fire away a dangerous shot which Eduard Hayaletdinov despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Emmanuil Kabanov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aleksey Pogudin was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 89 minutes into the match. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ivanovo HC! The score was 0-8 after a penalty in the 91st minute, where WWW LENINGRAD:s Stanislav Karpov tricked Ivanovo HC:s Eduard Hayaletdinov with a difficult ball by the left post. Virgilio Quinto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Eduard Hayaletdinov made a huge save. Ivanovo HC's Eduard Hayaletdinov proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Ivanovo HC from getting a goal against them. The Ivanovo HC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. WWW LENINGRAD were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
