Constantin Turcu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basarab Târlea didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Constantin Turcu went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 18 minutes into the match, CS Universitatea Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Costică Săvoiu came free, but Petrică Dascălu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcel Rioşanu struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Petrică Dascălu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Progresul Vucova. Basarab Târlea was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Marius Greblă showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 31 minute of play. With a little luck, Progresul Vucova's Basarab Târlea got control of the ball when Constantin Turcu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Basarab Târlea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marius Greblă, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Constantin Turcu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Basarab Târlea made a huge save. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcel Rioşanu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Progresul Vucova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferdinand Grigorie to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Răzvan Fetanu sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Progresul Vucova's Basarab Târlea didn't even have to move. 58 minutes into the match, CS Universitatea Craiova's Constantin Turcu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Basarab Târlea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Constantin Turcu came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the CS Universitatea Craiova fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Constantin Turcu couldn't finish the play. But to his dismay, Constantin Turcu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Marcel Rioşanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Petrică Dascălu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Constantin Ignătescu's late challenge caught a CS Universitatea Craiova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Constantin Ignătescu helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Progresul Vucova getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Constantin Ignătescu hit a great ball. In the 70th minute Constantin Turcu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basarab Târlea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basarab Târlea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Constantin Turcu in the 75th minute of the match. After having played for 76 minutes, Constantin Turcu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CS Universitatea Craiova's supporters crossed their fingers, but Constantin Turcu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basarab Târlea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marius Greblă, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. If Marcel Rioşanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The CS Universitatea Craiova fans' excitement grew in the 90th match minute when CS Universitatea Craiova's Marius Greblă looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Costică Săvoiu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 96 minutes into the game, one of Progresul Vucova:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Răzvan Fetanu shot the penalty kick right outside the post. For all the effort they put into the match, the Progresul Vucova players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for CS Universitatea Craiova.
