Spectators: 7424 (Terracing: 5569, Seating: 1707, VIP seats: 148) FC Butan Gaz's Octav Tăzlăuanu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Petre Timaru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octav Tăzlăuanu in the 5th minute of play. Gelu Olariu made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Șerban Mascovescu sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, FC Butan Gaz's Gelu Olariu got control of the ball when Ionuț Buzescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 11th minute, Calistrat Zdroană ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Petre Timaru was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Petre Timaru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octav Tăzlăuanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. FC Butan Gaz's Gelu Olariu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save FC Butan Gaz from getting a goal against them. In the 24th minute, Octav Tăzlăuanu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Butan Gaz fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Gelu Olariu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Codrin Drăucean in the 27th minute. A collision led to FC Butan Gaz getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Dumitru Sticlaru hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Butan Gaz's zone, Iosif Caranică stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gelu Olariu came out of the goal and Iosif Caranică tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Iosif Caranică kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Șerban Mascovescu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gelu Olariu. The goal made the score 2-2. FC Butan Gaz's Gelu Olariu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasile Firu in the 40th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Șerban Mascovescu in the 42nd minute of play forced FC Butan Gaz's goalkeeper Gelu Olariu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Petre Timaru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octav Tăzlăuanu in the 43rd minute of play. In the 44th match minute, FC Butan Gaz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Măliță to maneuver through the defense. Codrin Drăucean could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Gelu Olariu made a huge save. 47 minutes into the match, FC Butan Gaz's goal looked a bit too open when Claudiu Dragotescu came free, but Gelu Olariu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ionuț Buzescu was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Octav Tăzlăuanu in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Petre Timaru saved FC RAPID TARGOVISTE from getting behind. After 63 played minutes, FC Butan Gaz's Stelian Ghișe shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Petre Timaru came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Butan Gaz reached it. In the 65th minute Șerban Mascovescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gelu Olariu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gelu Olariu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudiu Dragotescu in the 68th minute of the match. FC Butan Gaz's Gelu Olariu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Șerban Mascovescu in the 72nd minute of play. A collision led to FC Butan Gaz getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Calistrat Zdroană hit a great ball. Gelu Olariu came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by FC RAPID TARGOVISTE's Ionuț Buzescu. But to his dismay, Ionuț Buzescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. After having played for 80 minutes, Ionuț Buzescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC RAPID TARGOVISTE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ionuț Buzescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 83 minutes into the game, FC RAPID TARGOVISTE's Ionuț Buzescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gelu Olariu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Gelu Olariu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Șerban Mascovescu in the 87th minute of play. FC Butan Gaz's Gelu Olariu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Șerban Mascovescu in the 89th minute of play. Gelu Olariu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ionuț Buzescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
