FC Steaua Bucuresti's defense didn't have a chance, in the 14th minute, when Ionuț Enescu scored to the left of an out of position Romeo Mateianu, making the score, 1-0. A collision led to Old Boys FC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Sever Opaina hit a great ball. Iulian Zgârcu's late challenge caught a FC Steaua Bucuresti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iulian Zgârcu helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Old Boys FC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Iulian Zgârcu hit a great ball. Romeo Mateianu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ştefan Stolniciu in the 30th minute. Romeo Mateianu made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Sever Opaina sent off a good shot on target. A very good opportunity. The supporters of Old Boys FC booed when FC Steaua Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petruț Bosioc didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ionuț Enescu to make the kick off. Iulian Decuseară kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. Old Boys FC's Ionuț Enescu got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Romeo Mateianu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ionuț Enescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Romeo Mateianu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alexandru Horodincă went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Yago Reina didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dumitru Cojan went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Old Boys FC made a substitution. Cătălin Petre replaced Ştefan Stolniciu. Romeo Mateianu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ionuț Enescu in the 77th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Old Boys FC defense, Horea Coman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Yago Reina. The Old Boys FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Yago Reina should have stopped the shot. 86 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Ionuț Enescu came free, but Romeo Mateianu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Romeo Mateianu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cătălin Petre in the 90th minute of the match. In the 95th minute Alexandru Horodincă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Mateianu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Steaua Bucuresti succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Old Boys FC had controlled the match.
