The player immediately received a yellow card. 23 minutes into the game, Bistritz's Mugurel Grindeanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rareș Elian made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Dorin Brădescu struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Rareș Elian didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bistritz. Nistor Panaitescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Macamete having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Bistritz's goal looked a bit too open when Marin Lucrețiu came free, but Ernest Macamete reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Stelian Tatulici hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Mugurel Grindeanu came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Bistritz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mugurel Grindeanu couldn't finish the play. After the first half Bistritz were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dorin Brădescu to make the kick off. Dorin Brădescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Rareș Elian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rareș Elian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorin Brădescu in the 57th minute of the match.
