Spectators: 7374 (Terracing: 5532, Seating: 1695, VIP seats: 147) FC Steaua Bucuresti's Claudiu Marin started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 played minutes Gruni got a freekick which was hit by Gheorghe Bran. Marius Pădureanu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Anton Minea. Cecilio Ganix showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigore Negrițoiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Cecilio Ganix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergiu Teodoreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sergiu Teodoreanu took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cecilio Ganix. Cecilio Ganix dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Claudiu Marin in the 15thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marius Pădureanu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 19th minute, Horia Nechifor ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cecilio Ganix was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 25 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Bucuresti's Claudiu Marin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marius Pădureanu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 26th minute, Sergiu Teodoreanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of FC Steaua Bucuresti booed when Gruni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horia Nechifor didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32ndth minute of the game Claudiu Marin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gruni's Marius Pădureanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 33 minutes into the game, Ronaldinho Bacardi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Marius Pădureanu. Ronaldinho Bacardi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. With his leg Marius Pădureanu managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when FC Steaua Bucuresti's Claudiu Marin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Cecilio Ganix showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grigore Negrițoiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 39th match minute, FC Steaua Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serban Atanasiu to maneuver through the defense. Cecilio Ganix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horia Nechifor in the 42nd minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Emilianu came free, but Cecilio Ganix reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Claudiu Marin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cecilio Ganix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergiu Teodoreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 48 minutes, Mihail Giuverdea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gruni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mihail Giuverdea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Gruni were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Horia Nechifor was the one to do the kick off. Cecilio Ganix made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Grigore Negrițoiu sent off a good shot on target. Claudiu Marin might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marius Pădureanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Claudiu Marin ran back to his position shaking his head. Cecilio Ganix was out of position in the 57 minute of play, and Robert Emilianu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Robert Emilianu really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. Claudiu Marin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 70th minute, Sergiu Teodoreanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 73rd minute, Horia Nechifor got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 74th match minute, Gruni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grigore Negrițoiu to maneuver through the defense. Valeriu Hurgoi hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. The supporters of Gruni booed when FC Steaua Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anton Minea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cecilio Ganix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horia Nechifor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th minute Horia Nechifor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cecilio Ganix saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cecilio Ganix made an important save on a dangerous shot by Grigore Negrițoiu in the 89th minute. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 4-4 when Claudiu Marin sped through Gruni's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marius Pădureanu. If Claudiu Marin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cecilio Ganix showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horia Nechifor in the 96th minute of the match. Cecilio Ganix didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Grigore Negrițoiu went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-5 was the resulting score.
