Spectators: 7499 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Aron Gheondea started the match with the kick off. After 2 played minutes Bornis FCM got a freekick which was hit by Eugen Jivulescu. Cazimir Andronic hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Lucrețiu Cuculeanu came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Bornis FCM's Manuel Ţeica. But to his dismay, Manuel Ţeica quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Aron Gheondea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucrețiu Cuculeanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 11th minute Aron Gheondea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucrețiu Cuculeanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, Steaua Bucuresti's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Aron Gheondea fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Lucrețiu Cuculeanu was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Aron Gheondea capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Aron Gheondea really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Lucrețiu Cuculeanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aron Gheondea in the 22nd minute of play. Aron Gheondea struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Lucrețiu Cuculeanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bornis FCM. If Aron Gheondea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edgar Valerian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Bornis FCM's Lucrețiu Cuculeanu threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Aron Gheondea, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Bornis FCM booed when Steaua Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horea Gherguț didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucrețiu Cuculeanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aron Gheondea's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Bornis FCM's Florin Rednic got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Cristian Poplăcan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cristian Poplăcan was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Lucrețiu Cuculeanu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lucrețiu Cuculeanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aron Gheondea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 54 minutes into the match, Steaua Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Aron Gheondea came free, but Lucrețiu Cuculeanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eric Marica fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucrețiu Cuculeanu having to interfere. Aron Gheondea scored 4-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lucrețiu Cuculeanu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aron Gheondea in the 63rd minute of play forced Steaua Bucuresti's goalkeeper Lucrețiu Cuculeanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aron Gheondea in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lucrețiu Cuculeanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Dan Mereuță fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Steaua Bucuresti's protests and gave Dan Mereuță a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Steaua Bucuresti! In the 69th minute there was a penalty for Bornis FCM. Aron Gheondea stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Lucrețiu Cuculeanu. 5-0. 73 minutes into the match, Steaua Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Aron Gheondea came free, but Lucrețiu Cuculeanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76th minute, Manuel Ţeica left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bornis FCM fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. After recieving a nice pass, Bornis FCM's Florin Rednic tried to score from far away in the 82nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 83 minutes into the match, Steaua Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Aron Gheondea came free, but Lucrețiu Cuculeanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eric Marica scored 7-0 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lucrețiu Cuculeanu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lucrețiu Cuculeanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aron Gheondea, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Manuel Ţeica succeeded in the game's 92nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 8-0. Steaua Bucuresti's Lucrețiu Cuculeanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aron Gheondea in the 95th minute of play. 97 minutes had been played when some careless play by Steaua Bucuresti's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Florin Rednic was slow to take the kick. During this time Bornis FCM's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Eugen Jivulescu heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When the referee ended the match the Bornis FCM players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
