In the 9th minute Petrică Domnescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Güven Dilsafa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Petrică Domnescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Güven Dilsafa was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Sever Dăscălescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC SRO Baia Mare's supporters rose to their feet, but Sever Dăscălescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucian Urduban breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgil Iacob in the 11th minute of play forced FC SRO Baia Mare's goalkeeper Güven Dilsafa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC SRO Baia Mare's Güven Dilsafa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petrică Domnescu in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of FC SRO Baia Mare booed when Furnicosi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petrică Domnescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 17th minute by Desiderio Amato got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Toader Andronic took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Güven Dilsafa. Güven Dilsafa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Lucian Urduban made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sever Dăscălescu in the 23rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Sever Dăscălescu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lucian Urduban. That made the score 1-1 in the 24 minute of play. With his leg Lucian Urduban managed to avoid a goal in the 28thth minute, when FC SRO Baia Mare's Desiderio Amato fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A collision led to FC SRO Baia Mare getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Mihai Chihaia hit a great ball. In the 29th minute, Mădălin Agrigoroaiei got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 32 minutes of play, Furnicosi's Toader Andronic made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Güven Dilsafa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Güven Dilsafa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gavril Hristea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute Toader Andronic shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Güven Dilsafa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Toader Andronic came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Furnicosi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toader Andronic couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Furnicosi getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Petrică Domnescu hit a great ball. With his leg Lucian Urduban managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when FC SRO Baia Mare's Desiderio Amato fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Lucian Urduban showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sever Dăscălescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Petrică Domnescu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 54thth minute, Güven Dilsafa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgil Iacob in the 55th minute of play forced FC SRO Baia Mare's goalkeeper Güven Dilsafa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Virgil Iacob fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Furnicosi's protests and gave Virgil Iacob a yellow card for diving instead. In the 61st minute, Virgil Iacob hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Desiderio Amato struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Lucian Urduban didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC SRO Baia Mare. When Fabian Vârnav fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Furnicosi's protests and gave Fabian Vârnav a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 played minutes Furnicosi got a freekick which was hit by Fabian Vârnav. Toader Andronic received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Güven Dilsafa came out and tried to block the shot, but Toader Andronic slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 66th minute. With a little luck, FC SRO Baia Mare's Güven Dilsafa got control of the ball when Gavril Hristea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Virgil Iacob was shown his second yellow card after 72 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Furnicosi's Gavril Hristea got a free kick in the 76th minute. Güven Dilsafa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Petrică Domnescu in the 81st minute. Sever Dăscălescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Petrică Domnescu struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Sever Dăscălescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Lucian Urduban tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When FC SRO Baia Mare's Sever Dăscălescu in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Furnicosi's goalie prevented a goal. The Furnicosi supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Furnicosi would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
