Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ionuț Nicopol started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 5 minutes, Octav Molodețiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Progresul Pitești and the Catunul CSS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 5 played minutes Progresul Pitești got a freekick which was hit by Octav Molodețiu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sorin Ţiriac in the 7th minute of play forced Catunul CSS's goalkeeper Leontin Isaicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Ionuț Nicopol's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Montrel Castaño was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Sorin Ţiriac's late challenge caught a Catunul CSS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sorin Ţiriac helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th match minute, Progresul Pitești was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sorin Ţiriac to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Progresul Pitești booed when Catunul CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emanuel Ibrișin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Catunul CSS's Leontin Isaicu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Traian Oloieru in the 22nd minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Progresul Pitești's goalkeeper Montrel Castaño had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Codruț Bărbânță. 31 minutes into the game, Progresul Pitești's Sorin Ţiriac nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leontin Isaicu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Montrel Castaño made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Cezar Bratiloveanu sent off a good shot on target. 38 minutes into the match, Progresul Pitești's goalkeeper Montrel Castaño had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cezar Bratiloveanu. Guaberto Ignado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 40 minutes, Cezar Bratiloveanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catunul CSS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cezar Bratiloveanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Ionuț Nicopol kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Montrel Castaño. That made the score 1-2 in the 42 minute of play. Leontin Isaicu came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Progresul Pitești's Sorin Ţiriac. But to his dismay, Sorin Ţiriac quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Octav Molodețiu made a kick off. Octav Molodețiu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Leontin Isaicu made a huge save. In the 52nd minute, Ionuț Nicopol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A sloppy throw-in by Emanuel Ibrișin in the 56th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Progresul Pitești's Guaberto Ignado. Radu Roşca's late challenge caught a Catunul CSS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Radu Roşca helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th match minute, Progresul Pitești was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Radu Roşca to maneuver through the defense. Montrel Castaño showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ionuț Nicopol, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. 63 minutes into the match, Catunul CSS's goalkeeper Leontin Isaicu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Octav Molodețiu. Manuel Comăneci kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Leontin Isaicu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sorin Ţiriac in the 74th minute of the match. Radu Roşca was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 75 minutes into the match. The supporters of Catunul CSS booed when Progresul Pitești was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radu Roşca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leontin Isaicu was a little too slow when Traian Oloieru got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 1-4. Montrel Castaño stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ionuț Nicopol's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Sorin Ţiriac took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leontin Isaicu. Leontin Isaicu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. Sorin Ţiriac received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Leontin Isaicu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Emanuel Ibrișin in the 93rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Progresul Pitești's Octav Molodețiu. The referee gave Catunul CSS a penalty, 95 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Petrică Condescu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Progresul Pitești's Montrel Castaño. 2-5. When the match was over Progresul Pitești could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Catunul CSS throughout the match.
