In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Demetertana's goalkeeper Stelian Coraș, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iustinian Bungescu in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ionel Mortu saved FC Steaua Bucuresti from getting behind. Stelian Coraș made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Avram Cângea sent off a good shot on target. 22 minutes into the match, Edgar Măcrinici notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Demetertana's Stelian Coraș. Stelian Coraș was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 26 minutes into the match, Emil Târcă notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of FC Steaua Bucuresti's Ionel Mortu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marian Bobeanu in the 42nd minute of play forced Demetertana's goalkeeper Stelian Coraș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gheorghe Encuțu was extremely unlucky when he, in the 43rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 46th minute Marian Bobeanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stelian Coraș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute, Ovidiu Urseanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emil Târcă to make the kick off. After 55 played minutes Demetertana got a freekick which was hit by Iustinian Bungescu. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Emil Târcă sped through FC Steaua Bucuresti's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ionel Mortu. After a rather tough play, FC Steaua Bucuresti's Edgar Măcrinici got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Vali Culiță, 64 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When Avram Cângea came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the FC Steaua Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Avram Cângea couldn't finish the play. After having played for 76 minutes, Avram Cângea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Steaua Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Avram Cângea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 82nd minute Avram Cângea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stelian Coraș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marian Bobeanu took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stelian Coraș. Stelian Coraș dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. In the 87th minute, Iustin Pop left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Steaua Bucuresti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. Demetertana's Stelian Coraș played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marian Bobeanu in the 90th minute of play. A collision led to Demetertana getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Valeriu Apostolescu hit a great ball. 95 minutes into the game, FC Steaua Bucuresti's Iustin Pop nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stelian Coraș made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-2.
