The referee showed Octavian Gheară the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Golgofta CSS's Octavian Gheară got a free kick in the 3rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sandu Lăzăroiu in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mugur Bîndean saved Birtin from getting behind. Paul Turcan hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. The supporters of Birtin booed when Golgofta CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horaţiu Chindriș didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute, Sandu Lăzăroiu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mugur Bîndean was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Sever Jivulescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 19 minutes, Paul Turcan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Birtin and the Golgofta CSS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some careless play in the Birtin defense, Sever Jivulescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mugur Bîndean. The Birtin fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mugur Bîndean should have stopped the shot. Basarab Todericiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 25th minute, Marius Buga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mugur Bîndean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sever Jivulescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Leontin Zăreanu made a precise shot to the right of Mihai Blăjan. Golgofta CSS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Basarab Todericiu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mugur Bîndean having to make a save. Golgofta CSS's Basarab Todericiu got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 41 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Golgofta CSS! When the match had been going on for 44 minutes, Birtin's Edgar Arseni got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Mihai Blăjan. When Sandu Lăzăroiu came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Golgofta CSS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sandu Lăzăroiu couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The crowd rose to their feet as Golgofta CSS's Sandu Lăzăroiu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mugur Bîndean. That made the score 2-3 after 52 minutes of play. Sever Jivulescu was extremely unlucky when he, in the 55th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Sandu Lăzăroiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugur Bîndean having to interfere. Sever Jivulescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Mugur Bîndean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Basarab Todericiu took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mugur Bîndean. Mugur Bîndean dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. Sandu Lăzăroiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugur Bîndean having to interfere. Mugur Bîndean showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basarab Todericiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Mugur Bîndean was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sandu Lăzăroiu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-7 in the 76 minute of play. The audience was convinced that Sandu Lăzăroiu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mugur Bîndean was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Leontin Zăreanu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mihai Blăjan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Nechifor Penescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Birtin's supporters rose to their feet, but Nechifor Penescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mihai Blăjan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sever Jivulescu didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 2-8 via right post in the game's 86th minute. Golgofta CSS's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! In the 94th minute, Sandu Lăzăroiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 97 minutes into the game, Birtin's Leontin Zăreanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mihai Blăjan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-9.
