A wasted opportunity for Golgofta CSS. 8 minutes into the match, Golgofta CSS's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Zbârlea came free, but Mihai Blăjan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Petru Mortu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eugen Stancu's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. After 15 minutes, Sever Jivulescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Golgofta CSS and the Vasesti players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Golgofta CSS getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Sever Jivulescu hit a great ball. Mihai Blăjan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viorel Udurbac, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mihai Blăjan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Zbârlea in the 19th minute of the match. If Basarab Todericiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mihai Blăjan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Zbârlea, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Sever Jivulescu went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 43rd match minute, Golgofta CSS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basarab Todericiu to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basarab Todericiu got free with Petru Mortu in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sandu Lăzăroiu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Golgofta CSS's goalkeeper Mihai Blăjan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Silviu Hârtopanu hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. When Silviu Hârtopanu came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Golgofta CSS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silviu Hârtopanu couldn't finish the play. Basarab Todericiu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Vasesti's zone, Basarab Todericiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petru Mortu came out of the goal and Basarab Todericiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Basarab Todericiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Basarab Todericiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Vasesti's zone, Horaţiu Chindriș stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petru Mortu came out of the goal and Horaţiu Chindriș tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mihai Blăjan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Viorel Udurbac went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After having played for 79 minutes, Basarab Todericiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Golgofta CSS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basarab Todericiu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vasesti's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eugen Stancu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Vasesti were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Golgofta CSS's much stronger midfield.
