Spectators: 6702 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1702, VIP seats: 0) Birtin's Nechifor Penescu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Viorel Udurbac took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mugur Bîndean. Mugur Bîndean dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Leontin Zăreanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th match minute, Vasesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nistor Mironov to maneuver through the defense. Leontin Zăreanus short, quick shot in the 11thth minute got Petru Mortu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 21st minute, Vasesti's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Leontin Zăreanu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Robert Zbârlea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mugur Bîndean read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Maxim Popoacă hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Petru Mortu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nechifor Penescu in the 35th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Birtin's zone, Viorel Udurbac stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mugur Bîndean came out of the goal and Viorel Udurbac tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Viorel Udurbac made a kick off. Nechifor Penescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Birtin booed when Vasesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nistor Mironov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Petru Mortu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leontin Zăreanu in the 56th minute of the match. In the 58th minute Viorel Udurbac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mugur Bîndean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Leontin Zăreanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Birtin's supporters rose to their feet, but Leontin Zăreanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Petru Mortu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Petru Mortu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maxim Augustin in the 63rd minute of play. After 67 minutes of play Vasesti's Nistor Mironov was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Vasesti's Nistor Mironov got a free kick in the 67th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Vasesti's zone, Paul Turcan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petru Mortu came out of the goal and Paul Turcan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 75thth minute of the game Leontin Zăreanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vasesti's Petru Mortu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nechifor Penescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Birtin's Paul Turcan got a free kick in the 78th minute. Leontin Zăreanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 88 minutes into the match, Vasesti's goal looked a bit too open when Nechifor Penescu came free, but Petru Mortu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leontin Zăreanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Petru Mortu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
