Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Niculae Penescu took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 5th match minute, Steaua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iustin Cioroianu to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, AF Targoviste's Ioan Lovinescu got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 9th minute of the match Břetislav Mejstřík sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gavril Grigoroiu skillfully saved the ball. Niculae Penescus short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Mihnea Popoiu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 19 played minutes Steaua got a freekick which was hit by Zahavi Birbauer. Isac Bâru kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. AF Targoviste's Gavril Grigoroiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emilian Horia in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Steaua's goalkeeper Mihnea Popoiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Niculae Penescu. Niculae Penescu struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Mihnea Popoiu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AF Targoviste. Mihnea Popoiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niculae Penescu in the 29th minute of the match. AF Targoviste's Emilian Mereacre pulled a muscle in his leg after 30 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Narcis Sucigan charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Narcis Sucigan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 32nd minute, Narcis Sucigan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gavril Grigoroiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertas Balkys in the 43rd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Albertas Balkys stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, AF Targoviste's goalkeeper Gavril Grigoroiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emilian Horia. In the 65th minute, Emilian Horia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Steaua fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Mihnea Popoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niculae Penescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 71st match minute, Steaua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilian Horia to maneuver through the defense. Ioan Lovinescu kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Gavril Grigoroiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertas Balkys in the 73rd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Niculae Penescu put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Mihnea Popoiu. Emilian Horia hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niculae Penescu in the 83rd minute of play forced Steaua's goalkeeper Mihnea Popoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Octavian Todea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Niculae Penescu in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mihnea Popoiu prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
