An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicu Giosu in the 9th minute of play forced FC Bazel's goalkeeper Denis Povară to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Nicu Giosu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denis Povară stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doru Mitrea's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. 22 minutes into the game, Ajax's Doru Mitrea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Denis Povară made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Doru Mitrea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denis Povară read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After 32 played minutes Ajax got a freekick which was hit by Aurelian Potra. Teodor Ţintea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Taribo West tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Denis Povară took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doru Mitrea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Ajax getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Flavius Coșeriu hit a great ball. Denis Povară stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doru Mitrea's shot from short distance in the 45th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doru Mitrea to make the kick off. When %teams%'s Nicu Giosu was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 0-2 just inside the left pole, 52 minutes into the game. Denis Povară was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Cristinel Avădanei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Taribo West having to interfere. FC Bazel's defense didn't have a chance, in the 63rd minute, when Doru Mitrea scored to the left of an out of position Denis Povară, making the score, 0-3. Denis Povară showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Mitrea, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. A collision led to FC Bazel getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Romeo Sandu hit a great ball. In the 71st minute, FC Bazel's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Nicu Giosu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 73 minutes into the match, Teodor Ţintea notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Ajax's Taribo West. Taribo West was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Ajax getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Flavius Coșeriu hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the match, FC Bazel's Gabriel Ştati broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Flavius Coșeriu fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ajax's protests and gave Flavius Coșeriu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th minute, Flavius Coșeriu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in FC Bazel's zone, Doru Mitrea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denis Povară came out of the goal and Doru Mitrea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aurelian Potra kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Doru Mitrea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Povară having to interfere.
