In the 17thth minute of the game Isac Vătavu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ajax's Taribo West was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Coleni UFC's goalkeeper Mihail Lăzan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 21 minutes, Nicu Giosu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ajax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicu Giosu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 23rd minute Doru Mitrea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihail Lăzan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isac Isărescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Taribo West tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Coleni UFC reached it. After a defensive mix-up in Coleni UFC's zone, Doru Mitrea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mihail Lăzan came out of the goal and Doru Mitrea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Doru Mitrea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Coleni UFC's Niculae Butnaru got a free kick in the 57th minute. Mihail Lăzan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicu Giosu in the 59th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isac Vătavu got free with Taribo West in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 65th minute Constantin Albu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Taribo West saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Doru Mitrea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mihail Lăzan was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Isac Isărescu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 78thth minute, Taribo West skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
