Mihai Podaru started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Stavropoleos AS booed when STEAUA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Răzvan Urdea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Razvan Rizea kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. 9 minutes into the match, STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Codruț Bratoloveanu came free, but Artemio Fertus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Stavropoleos AS's Nicolae Buciu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Artemio Fertus narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Stavropoleos AS getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Codruț Bratoloveanu hit a great ball. After 24 played minutes STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Stefan Iovan. Artemio Fertus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolae Buciu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Stavropoleos AS's Iulian Oardă got a free kick in the 27th minute. Nicolae Buciu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Nicolae Buciu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stavropoleos AS's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolae Buciu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Artemio Fertus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Codruț Bratoloveanu scored 0-1 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artemio Fertus, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicolae Buciu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artemio Fertus having to interfere. When Marin Cigu came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Stavropoleos AS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marin Cigu couldn't finish the play. After the first half Stavropoleos AS were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nicolae Buciu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, STEAUA's Artemio Fertus got control of the ball when Marin Cigu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in STEAUA fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Artemio Fertus, was totally fooled by Stavropoleos AS's Nicolae Vrânceanu, who 59 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 64 minutes of play, STEAUA's Mihai Podaru made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eugen Ştefulescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Șerban Crăciunaș kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Mihai Podaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Eugen Ştefulescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eugen Ştefulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Razvan Rizea in the 95th minute of the match.
