After some careless play in the Ideea defense, Gabriel Gheorghiu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Doru Chirilă. The Ideea fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Doru Chirilă should have stopped the shot. In the 29thth minute of the game Gabriel Gheorghiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ideea's Doru Chirilă was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Tomaž Benedičič dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Eduard Arsene, 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Gearroid O'Neill recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
