Spectators: 6707 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1707, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. TSD Baia Mare's supporters crossed their fingers, but Constantin Gorcea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iordache Gorun in the 16th minute of play forced Ghelmar's goalkeeper Vali Zmeu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adrian Codreanu was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 32 minutes into the match. 31 minutes into the game, one of TSD Baia Mare:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ghelmars' Codruț Bârlă just managed to throw himself towards the right post in the 34thth minute after Aurelian Senins penalty, and stop a certain goal. Aurelian Senin made a great header on Ghelmar's corner, it was just that TSD Baia Mare's Codruț Bârlă managed to reach the ball for a save. Silviu Zegreanu tried to clear up in front of Codruț Bârlă but instead he got an unlucky hit on the ball which made it go via the left pole into goal meaning 1-2 in the 35th matchminute. A very disappointing self made goal. When Dumitru Ailincai came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the TSD Baia Mare fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dumitru Ailincai couldn't finish the play. Constantin Gorcea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vali Zmeu having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Ghelmar's goal looked a bit too open when Iordache Gorun came free, but Vali Zmeu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Serafim Moraes hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dragoş Jitaru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vali Zmeu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dumitru Ailincai in the 51st minute of the match. The supporters of Ghelmar booed when TSD Baia Mare was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Ilarie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aurelian Senin took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Codruț Bârlă. TSD Baia Mare's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 57th minute, Vasile Arseni left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ghelmar fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. When Aron Minculescu fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ghelmar's protests and gave Aron Minculescu a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 played minutes Ghelmar got a freekick which was hit by Aron Minculescu. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Constantin Gorcea managed to get in a good position for a shot. TSD Baia Mare's supporters rose to their feet, but Constantin Gorcea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vali Zmeu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ghelmar's Pompiliu Maghear got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Viorel Panaite hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 86th minute, Constantin Gorcea left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing TSD Baia Mare would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
